No business plan just vibes.
So I’ve been creating content since 2008. That’s a long time. A whole generation ago (cray cray, as the Gen Z kidz say). I never really had the tools, or the time, to be one of those “I upload a new video every week on Mondays and Thursdays” types to make money from it. In my OG nail blogger days I did get quite a few PR packages but never any real revenue. But it has been a cozy, creative outlet for me over the years that’s been worth more than freebies, sponsorship and ad revenue!
So, nearing 20 years of content creation, I wanted to look back at what my most popular content has been…
My most popular blogging
My OG blog, Pretty Perfect Beauty, about nails and beauty, has over 1.2million views over the last 19 odd years and still delivers over 70k views a month. Clearly, if you make quality content people will continue to come back to it! I did have it monetized at one point but when I stopped posting regularly I fell foul of not keeping up to get the monetization renewed.
My most viewed YouTube video
Nice one. 94k views and counting! Clearly it’s essential viewing. I should have monetized it, I might’ve been able to get an actual new toilet by now!? My content here has really just been random stuff which I have been interested in posting about / that I would watch myself.
My most played Instagram reel
Who can resist cute cats and toddlers? No one. My #crazycatbaby reel has 14.3k views and counting! My Instagram is basically again just content I like to share. No business plan just vibes.
So what’s next for you to check out? My Twitch, of course! I think I will combine my love for gaming with my content creation for the next phase, and see if I enjoy the combo!
